Mercure Sydney once again saw the delegates of the NSW Nurses & Midwives’ Association’s (NSWNMA) annual conference do the locomotion from Sydney Central to Rosehill.
The ‘express’ solution of hiring a train was done last year to give the delegates the best of both worlds in staying at the city-located hotel and having their annual conference for the first time at Rosehill Gardens.
This was such a hit that the delegates decided to hop on board a dedicated train again this year and Mercure Sydney upped the ante by organising a flashmob to see them off to Central Station this morning, on the first day of the 69th edition of the conference.
Delegates were gathered in front of the hotel for a group shot prior to setting off when to their delight, a troupe of staged Mercure Sydney ‘employees’ sprang to life with a song and dance performance. Spirit fingers and cheesy smiles abounded, inviting delegates to ‘Be Our Guest’ in a demonstration of service, flair and fantastic entertainment.
General Manager Mercure Sydney Greg Brady said, “We are delighted to be able to provide this innovative conferencing solution as well as such a bright start to their conference.”
“The NSW Nurses & Midwives’ Association has used Mercure Sydney as their conference accommodation for a number of years and we strive to create great conference experiences every time.”
“The convenience of travelling on a dedicated train makes this the most efficient way of meeting their conference requirements. It takes just 30 minutes to travel as the train bypasses all traffic black spots with stops at Redfern, Strathfield and Lidcombe to gather up the 450 delegates attending the conference.”
General Secretary NSWNMA Brett Holmes said, “The annual conference is a key event for the NSWNMA and we are pleased with what Mercure Sydney has provided to meet our requirements.”
“This year’s conference will see numerous activities centred on the theme of nurses and midwives being a force for change in putting patient safety first. It is very important for our delegates to have a seamless experience in travelling to the conference and staying at the hotel, in order to gain the maximum from the conference.”
Creativity has been a key focus with Mercure Sydney’s conferencing capabilities and together with a revamp completed earlier this year, the hotel provides innovative event offerings that will exceed client’s expectations.
