Perth is set to welcome the world’s largest global Gas conference when the 18th International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG 18) begins on Monday 11th April at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Over 4000 delegates and exhibitors will attend this week-long event and be welcomed by the Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP and the Premier of Western Australia, the Hon. Colin Barnett MLA.
Paul Beeson, Chief Executive Officer of the Perth Convention Bureau (PCB), heralded the return of this major international conference to Perth.
“After the success of hosting LNG 12 in Perth in 1998, PCB canvassed the opportunity to bid for LNG 18 with the Australian Gas Industry Trust (AGIT) nearly seven years ago,” he said.
PCB, along with its Major Partner, the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, and Arinex as the Professional Conference Organiser, lead a significant team-focussed bidding effort with major support from the Department of State Development, AGIT, City of Perth, Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA), and industry gas giants including Woodside Energy and Chevron Australia to develop the bid on behalf of Australia.
LNG 18 will showcase Western Australia’s status as one of the world’s leading gas industry hubs and the major role that LNG plays in Australia’s economy.
Paul Beeson added that “LNG 18 is an excellent example of our relatively small, but high value industry working together to secure a large event for the State. With an economic impact estimated at more than fifty million dollars ($50m), LNG18 will deliver multiple dividends to the State of Western Australia and industry”.
