Peppers Seaport has unveiled a new $1.3 million function space to give Launceston a premier new offering for conferences and events.
The brand new Peppers Seaport Function Centre was officially opened by the Honourable Lara Giddings, Premier of Tasmania with Launceston’s business community in attendance.
Peppers Seaport owner Errol Stewart said the new space will greatly improve the region’s profile as a conference destination:
“Launceston can again become a significant destination with a substantially increased capacity to grow its share of the conference market,” said Mr Stewart.
The new function centre boasts state of the art conference facilities including audio visual technology, a new kitchen and private bar. The Centre offers two separate spaces – the Silt Centre with a capacity for 100 people cocktail or theatre style; and the Bridge Room for a more intimate setting of 40 people theatre style and 20 people boardroom style.
“The new function space provides an added dimension to the hotel complemented by superb accommodation and an excellent location on the waterfront,” said Peppers General Manager, Shannon Exelby.
Peppers Seaport offers 60 deluxe rooms and apartments and exudes a stylish, contemporary design with a distinct nautical theme situated on the site of an old dry dock. Centrally located just a five minute walk from Launceston’s town centre and 15 minutes drive from the airport, a host of waterfront restaurants are on the hotel’s doorstep as well as uninterrupted views of the Tamar River.
In addition to the Peppers Seaport Function Centre opening, Owner/Developer Errol Stewart also announced he would proceed with his vision to redevelop the grain silos on the North Bank of the Tamar to create a unique waterfront 70 room hotel complex, expected to open in 2015. The hotel will also be managed by Peppers and will include further conference facilities, two restaurants and a gymnasium.
