One of WA’s largest outdoor lifestyle events, the Perth Caravan & Camping Show, has won the Meetings & Events Australia award for Best Exhibition in WA (>100 exhibitors) for their 2010 Show.
The prestigious award was presented at a dinner at Ascot Racecourse on Thursday March 17, which was also the opening day of the 2011 Perth Caravan & Camping Show, and was received by event organiser Pat Strahan.
Following the WA win, event representatives will be travelling east to Brisbane in April as a finalist in the national Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) awards, which will be presented as part of the MEA conference.
Pat Strahan, owner of WA event and conference company Strahan Consultants and organiser of the Perth Caravan & Camping Show, is proud that the show has received this award.
“The event has been growing in both visitors and exhibitor numbers in for the past ten years, and it is exciting to see it recognised at a state level like this. The caravanning industry is one that has seen continuous growth, even through the recession, and the event reflects that growth year in, year out,” said Pat.
The annual five day Perth Caravan & Camping show attracts up to 49,000 visitors each year and features over 220 exhibitors and a large range of caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, accessories and camping equipment. Along with product exhibitors, the show runs a range of seminars each year to prepare travellers for life on the road.
On the show becoming a stalwart in the WA event calendar, Pat believes that this has a lot to do with the show featuring anything and everything relating to leisure.
“For a lot of people, it’s the Australian dream to drive around Australia in a caravan or motorhome and people wait for this event each year. They plan their holidays around it.”
The 2011 Show has just wrapped up at the Claremont Showground, with just over 47,000 visitors attending.
