Reed Exhibitions Australia (RXA) and Talk2 Media & Events (T2M) today announced RXA’s intention to acquire a majority stake in Fitness Show Pty Ltd (Fitness Shows) from event operator T2M.
The Fitness Shows recently celebrated their 30th anniversary and are the biggest fitness exhibitions in Australia. The exhibition consists of events staged annually in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and attract more than 60,000 fitness professionals and enthusiasts. The April 2017 Sydney event attracted 35,000 fitness professionals and enthusiasts. The Sydney event was hosted at the Sydney International Convention Centre and co-located with FILEX, the leading Fitness Convention.
While the acquisition marks the first move of RXA into the thriving fitness, health and wellbeing community in Australia, Reed Exhibitions is already a familiar name in the global industry, organising the world’s leading and largest fitness expo, FIBO, which runs in Cologne, Germany.
This transaction brings together two strong companies in the fitness exhibition industry, with T2M being the leader in Australia and RXA providing global insights, contacts and content through Reed Exhibitions.
RXA Managing Director, Brian Thomas, said: “We have worked very closely with our colleagues in Germany to learn about this most passionate of industries. Talk2 Media has built very successful shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. We have been greatly impressed by the work of Matt Pearce, Stephen Malbourne, Shaun Krenz and the team. We look forward to working with them to accelerate the growth of the events.”
Managing Director of T2M, Matt Pearce, said: “We are very proud of The Fitness Shows and look forward to seeing them grow for many years to come. Our team is excited to be joining Reed Exhibitions Australia and the opportunities that lie ahead. FIBO is the pinnacle of global fitness events and we can only see an upside for the Fitness Shows and our team in working closely with the world leaders. It is an exciting time to be in Fitness.”
The Fitness Shows Event Director, Shaun Krenz and the team that currently organises the events will join RXA ensuring its business as usual and provide customers with a sense of continuity.
In the coming weeks and months RXA and T2M hope to reach out directly to the community in an effort to learn even more about the common goal of growth, globalisation and even more customer value.
Mr Thomas said, “We will continue to use insights from our global networks and the expert knowledge of the local Fitness Show team to improve the event offering, but it is critical that we also speak directly to our local customers. Nobody understands the industry more than they do and our best chance of combined success is undoubtedly in working together towards a shared vision.”
The Fitness Shows bring together the latest fitness and health trends, products, events and experiences including live workouts, fitness classes, seminars and cooking demonstrations. The Fitness Shows are a key part of the marketing mix for many fitness brands and are supported by some of the biggest names in the industry with more than 400 highly-valued exhibitors. The next event will run in Melbourne at the MCEC, 13-15 October 2017.
