The ASE Editorial Policy.
Our primary intention is to provide a forum for the industry.

A place where practitioners in the industry can exchange ideas and information. We believe that the Internet provides an egalitarian platform for the free exchange of ideas. Unlike print the net also enables this exchange to take place in a very interactive manner, which is not restricted by publishing deadlines.
By operating as a commercial venture we can, with the support of our advertisers, pay staff to maintain the website, thus ensuring that information is kept up to date and posted quickly.

Our content divides into two main streams. The first editorial, and the second commercial.
The editorial content may be written by us, by our regular contributors, or by you, our readers. We expect this content to be opinionated, witty, informative, challenging and, hopefully, accurate.
The editorial sections include Industry News, Product and Event Reviews and Eventualities
We will endeavour to credit all contributors, including photographers. We may, mainly for space or legal reasons, edit submitted articles as necessary, but will keep this to a minimum.

The commercial section is the Marketplace. This section is designed to allow companies to promote new products and services in an informative manner we charge a small fee to include articles in this section.
Links to other sites. We will provide links to useful and relevant sites. We will also provide links from articles to advertisers listings in the directory. Links to commercial sites will be made at the discretion of the publisher.

Guidelines for the submission of articles to ASE

Articles for publication in ASE are most welcome and may be submitted in these main areas:

  • Industry related articles – News and Features
  • Marketplace – advertorial
  • Eventualities – staff appointments, awards, tit-bits

Keep in mind that ASE is a trade magazine and is aimed at people in the event industry so you need to tailor the article to that readership.

All articles must include the name of the writer plus contact details.

Industry related articles include reviews of events, stories on how you presented an event, commentary on the industry, "How to" articles, etc.

Be objective – essentially we like case studies that are of interest to others in the industry

In writing about your event you can cover areas such as:

  • What was your brief and how did you approach and then fulfil that brief?
  • Funding and accountability
  • The challenges and the logistics of staging the event
  • Explain any activities or features unique to this event
  • And importantly supply a full list of credits – the key event personnel and suppliers

The Marketplace is designed for companies who have newsworthy information to share with the industry such as new products or services, special offers etc. These items are essentially "advertorials" and we charge a small fee for their inclusion.

Marketplace articles should be kept to around 250 words and will be subjected to minimal editing. Australasian SpecialEvents will not be responsible for the content, so it is up to you to ensure accuracy. Marketplace articles must include the name of the writer plus full contact details.

Eventualities is the area for small articles - appointments, movements, etc. Once again this area is subject to minimal editing, so it is up to you to be accurate.

All articles and images to be sent to us electronically.

Text must be in an attached word document – not in the body of the email

If you cannot e-mail your story, then send it on a disc.

Photos must be saved as 72 dpi jpeg - around 10 x 15 cm (around 600 x 400 pixel) and with NO compression.

Prints and slides may be forwarded to us for scanning – maximum print size 13 x 18 cm – please ensure captions and a return address are attached to each photo. If you want your pix returned please include an addressed return envelope.

If you would like us to review your event please give us plenty of notice. Include details of date and time, venue, client, dress, your role and other event companies involved (eg suppliers). Our review will be from an event production viewpoint

All material published on this site is copyright. We will endeavour to acknowledge all contributors at all times.
