The trade show previously known as the Event ConneQion was rebranded and relaunched this year as Queensland Event Expo. The dates were also moved, initially to August and then to September to tap into clients looking for ideas for end of year events. Although the show struggled for the few years it ran under the old moniker, Expertise Events were confident that the revamped show and dates would suit the industry and buyers better as they said in this media release from earlier this year.
An ongoing frustration has been timing – in the past Event Conneqion followed AIME, playing second position to AIME other trade events in the first half of the year; the Queensland Event Expo will be run at a time most appropriate for the Queensland Events industry.
The Queensland Event Expo must be a catalyst for local business, and the past timing of Event Conneqion did not universally suit all participants, and event planning patterns. After extensive industry consultation we have moved the event to August 3-4, 2011.
This new date allows for an additional focus on Christmas and New Year business – giving Queensland Event providers the jump on the other states who rely upon AIME to capture these markets.
Expertise Events have issued the following statement re the cancellation.
It is with regret to advise you that Queensland Event Expo, September 7-8 is cancelled. Unfortunately in the current economic climate the Expo has fallen short of the exhibitor support required to ensure a sufficiently vibrant event is presented. We feel that it would be better to postpone this event, rather than disappoint visitors, which could also be detrimental to the exhibitors who participate. Even at this late notice we feel this is the best course for all concerned.
We will of course be refunding fully of any payments made to date, and will be issuing refunds this week to booked exhibitors.
