The appointment of Sandra Chipchase as the inaugural CEO of Destination NSW puts the organisation in good hands, according to peak industry body, Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF).
TTF Chief Executive John Lee said Ms Chipchase is an ideal choice.
“Sandra has extensive experience across all facets of the tourism industry,” Mr Lee said, “and brings a wealth of local and international experience to the role.”
“Most recently, she has played a key role in driving visitation to Melbourne while heading up the Melbourne Convention and Visitors’ Bureau.
“Her knowledge of leisure, events and business tourism is perfectly suited to overseeing the activities of the new statutory authority, Destination NSW, which brings together events and tourism under the one umbrella in New South Wales for the first time.
“Integrating the functions of events and tourism marketing, and product and destination development will be a boon for tourism in NSW and we look forward to working closely with Sandra to reach the government’s goal of doubling tourism expenditure by 2020.”
