Olio is the recently opened Mediterranean style cafe and bar on the new Grey Street level of the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
With a committed focus on fresh, local produce, a Mediterranean influence and a casual modern dining style, Olio is the latest addition to the hustle and bustle of South Bank’s cosmopolitan Grey Street restaurant precinct.
Olio is managed by the Centre’s award winning, multi-national Food & Beverage team, the winner of 57 catering awards and current holder of Australia’s Caterer of the Year title and for the third time, Best Function/Convention Centre Caterer.
Under the ever watchful eye of the Centre’s Executive Chef, Martin Latter, Olio offers a range of dining options from breakfast, quick eats, dishes to share, substantial lunch and dinner selections and cakes and pastries freshly baked in the Centre’s in-house patisserie.
The Centre follows a scratch kitchen philosophy, wherever possible with everything made from raw ingredients in the Centre’s main convention kitchen.
A proponent of seasonal and regional produce, Martin, together with his team of Chefs, has created a new Queensland produce dominated menu for Olio with two of the most popular items – the salad of duck confit, Italian potatoes, caramelised onions, green beans, roast beets & sticky date puree and fish of the day, saffron tomato chilli broth with scallops, broad beans & snow pea tendrils.
With its convenient Grey Street frontage, Olio Cafe & Bar is already making its presence felt among the restaurants and venues that make the South Bank dining experience so popular. It engages with the precinct’s lively and colourful cultural and cafe scene and with its sidewalk dining offering it is the perfect setting for that early morning coffee, relaxing drink, casual snack or pre-theatre dining.
Olio Cafe & Bar also adds to the dining choice for delegates and visitors to the Centre and with free Wi-Fi is becoming a popular meeting spot within the Centre.
Following strong urging from regular patrons, Olio Cafe & Bar, which is open from 7am Monday to Saturday, will now open for dinner until 8pm Wednesday through to Saturday.
