Partnership Showcase Event – Thursday 13th June 2013 – at QUT Gardens Point Campus
Onstage Entertainment, Solution RED, QUT Precincts and Zen Catering – utilising the venues of Qld Government House and Room Three Sixty at the QUT Gardens Point Campus in Brisbane.
Jackie Rouleston Stuart from Solution Red and Andrea Heath from Onstage Entertainment were mulling over the lack of event industry showcases in Queensland and decided that as Onstage were approaching 30 years in the industry and Solution Red six years in Queensland, they should throw a party.
A venue was required so they approached QUT who had just opened an event space in a new building at the Gardens Point Campus. The venue manager, QUT Precincts, came onboard along with the in-house caterer, Zen Catering. And so Sense-Us was born.
The guests were invited to experience the very best event ingredients – a stunning new contemporary venue overlooking both Brisbane City and the River – first class food and beverage – dynamic creativity and styling – and the best range of entertainer and performers.
Nearly 200 Brisbane and Gold Coast based buyers attended the event which kicked off with drinks outside one of QUT’s iconic venues, the Old Government House. Here guests were entertainment by Onstage’s own exclusive fire troupe – Flame-Ingo, while a violinist played on a three metre high sway pole and roaming performers mingled with the guests. O yes, and the Miami Nice boys handled registrations!
Following a fanfare from a group of trumpeters it was up to Room Three Sixty which is on the top floor of one of the newest buildings in QUT and boasts stunning views over the Brisbane River, city and the botanic gardens.
The room had been decorated by Jackie and the Solution Red team in three themes. Guests entered through a Miami South Beach scene where they collected a martini then checked out a Parisian café that was set with sweets by Zen catering. A graffiti artist working a large canvas linked through to an industrial setting.
The entertainment launched with “Dancing with the Stars” finalist Gerrard Gosens and his dance partner Elisha, in a Latin dancing display. The special thing about this performance is that Gerrard is blind.
Guests had enjoyed plenty of time to network on the lawns below so within an hour this venue was rocking with performances by Betty and the Betties, Dr Beatbox, a flashmob performance by Raw Dance Company and to rock the night out, Funk’n’Stuff.
In the meantime the guests (especially the girls) enjoyed the attention of the Miami Nice boys in the photo studio and were quickly jumping onto Facebook to tag their photos as they were uploaded by the EventPix team.
All through the evening guests were provided with delicious food and drinks designed by Zen Catering to reflect the three themes on show. This included Miami beach influenced cocktails, street food (burgers, pizzas, fish and chips) and then the dessert cafe that included Macaroons, Eclairs, Crème Brulee, Cake Pops and Cup cakes.
Guest feedback on the event
What can I say but “wow”! A brilliant event at a wonderful venue, organised by the best in the business! It was such a great showcase for Onstage Entertainment and your partners, Solution RED, QUT Precincts and Zen Catering and I know from the reaction of my fellow guests that it definitely got the reaction you were seeking. From the moment of arrival, there was “wow factor” everywhere (and I’m not just referring to those very cute young men – such a classic ‘Andrea’ touch!) and it kept up all evening.
I was delighted to ‘discover’ that superb new venue, Room Three Sixty, and have no doubt it will very quickly become one of Brisbane’s premier venues – I’ve already told a number of my contacts about it! It was great to catch up with so many colleagues and pals and to be part of an event that absolutely summed up why we are all so lucky to work in this very creative industry.
Can you please convey my sincere thanks to your partners in this inaugural Sense-Us event and I look forward to the possibility of it becoming “the” annual event for the Qld industry! Well done to you all! Anna, Qld Conventions Services
I would like to say a BIG thank you on behalf of Exponet for such a great night last night. I already knew both Onstage & Solution Red were AMAZING but last night was a real eye opener and you both are incredible at your jobs . Christine, ExpoNet
Thank you for a fantastic evening! It was by far one of the best industry outings I have been too. It was great to see all the talented artists and catch up with everyone. You and your team did a wonderful job. Rebecca, BCEC.
Thanks so much for including Caroline and I in the guest list. The night was a real credit to you and your partners – well ahead of anything I’ve attended in Brisbane in the past. And some great talent was highlighted. As well as a venue that I’m sure will be very popular once people get to know about it. Christine, Ray White
