The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre has scooped the pool in this year’s New South Wales Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) Awards, winning the top prize in four categories for a second consecutive year.
The awards were announced last night at a gala dinner in Sydney, with the Centre winning a range of categories from Venue over 500, In-house AV Services and Banquet and Catering through to Corporate Social Responsibility.
Centre Chief Executive Ton van Amerongen said the Centre was thrilled by the wins, which follow a record four national MEA awards for the venue last year. .
The Centre will now enter the MEA national awards in the four categories it has won at the State level, as well as an additional national category of Education.
“We strive hard to be an industry leader across all areas of our operations so the breadth of these award categories is really very gratifying,” Mr van Amerongen said.
“Not only do we have a world class venue, we have a world class team of professionals working here. My thanks go to every one of them for their continued efforts to ensure the success of our clients’ events.”
Mr van Amerongen said the Centre’s submissions for the NSW MEA awards had focussed on the venue’s achievements across a range of areas from products and initiatives, including a new website and social media thrust, through to sustainability advancements and event delivery.
“In our continuing quest to provide the best possible service for our clients, we launched a range of new products and programs in 2011. Feedback has been great, with our client satisfaction rating reaching a record 87.3 per cent last year as a result,” Mr van Amerongen said.
“To collect these MEA awards in recognition of our work is the icing on the cake.”
