Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) are celebrating after taking out two awards at this year’s prestigious National Meeting and Events Australia (MEA) Awards in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday night.
Along with 57 other finalists across Australia MCEC were announced winners of ‘Banqueting and Catering’ and ‘In-house AV Services’ at the awards evening during MEA’s national conference, held in Malaysia for the first time.
MCEC’s Chief Executive Peter King said the accolades recognise the venue’s ongoing commitment to providing an outstanding technology and catering offering for its customers.
“We’re thrilled to be recognised on a national level for these awards which represent the best of the best in the meetings and events industry and are a real credit to the passionate and hard-working MCEC team.
“We continue to invest significantly in our technology and food and beverage offering to ensure we lead our industry and most importantly deliver successful events for our customers on a daily basis.”
Some of these investments include new pop-up retail food outlets and MCEC’s Visualisation Studio – a convention centre first – where customers can view a 3D representation of their event.
“MCEC pride itself on supporting local business by sourcing produce from Victorian suppliers, farmers and winemakers to create our dishes in-house.
“And our technology team, who have years of experience working in venues around the world, bring events to life through our leading audio, vision and lighting,” King added.
MEA awards are assessed across a range of business criteria and the year in review, which looked at financials, activities, challenges and impact on the meetings and events industry as a whole.
