The Event Makers Event is coming! And we are going to turn the events industry on its head!
From Friday 13 to Sunday 15 May 2016, more than 100 leading Australian event industry suppliers will take over the stunning Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne’s Carlton Gardens, showcasing their wares and celebrating an industry that spans a wildly broad audience – from someone planning a wedding, to corporate and events professionals organising their company’s next major client event, or festival…. and everyone in between.
After all….where else does the event industry go to showcase what they do?
The Event Makers Event (TEME) has been designed to become Australia’s premier show to the event industry, as well as deliver new ideas and inspiration, and introduce a new range of suppliers, to professionals who work within the events sphere.
But further than that, it brings together all that the industry has to offer to people who are designing their own important and very personal event – whether it be a wedding, birthday celebration, engagement or anything at all!
The Event Makers Event is under the directorship of Gail Smaniotto, and Janina Lear. Both have an enormous amount of event management and business experience under their belts. They are driven, passionate and excited about what the industry has to offer.
In drawing on her experience working on major exhibitions such as the Home Show (nationally), The Good Food Show, and major regional tourism events, Gail recognises that for suppliers to the event industry it is not always easy to get new and exciting concepts out to a broad audience.
“We consider this event to be the Willy Wonka of event expos – expect the unexpected!’ Gail said.
“It is an event for all kinds of events and all under one roof! TEME is really the first of its kind in Australia and will offer everything from amazing entertainment options for your event, quirky, fun and playful catering options, to masterclasses run by event professionals who will teach how to make your events work, and creative workshops. It’s going to be one big party really!”
Co-director Janina Lear agrees. “Many people who are organising their own very personal, major life event put in hours and hours of planning and use many online tools such as Pinterest – well we think people are going to see this as their opportunity to see, touch, taste and feel their Pinterest feed! They can completely absorb and experience everything their event could be!”
Janina’s experience is as vast and diverse as Gail’s, starting in the travel industry where she learnt to multi-task, work to intense deadlines and be incredibly organised! For the past 8 years Janina has run her own events, including the Geelong Baby and Children’s Markets and the locally renowned Piccadilly Markets. Janina also has a strong marketing background, running her own social media consultancy specialising in Facebook for business.
The experience Janina and Gail bring to the table in designing The Event Makers Event means that no stone will be left unturned!
In Melbourne alone, the events industry injects more than $2.4 billion into the state’s economy through the more than 8000 events and festivals held in the city each year.
$4.3 billion is spent annually on weddings alone across Australia.
As a supplier to the event industry, this is a perfect opportunity for businesses to not only tap into the events, festivals and corporate entertainment professionals, but also the exciting and passionate people behind some of the most impressive weddings, parties and celebrations in Australia. This is where they need to be next May.
Applications are now being taken for exhibition space at the Event Makers Event in May 2016, but suppliers must be quick! There are only limited spaces offered to each industry category, and applications will be assessed on their reputation and quality of their supply to the industry
