It was not easy to shine amidst the glitter of the region’s premier tourism event and “night of nights” but Darwin Convention Centre (DCC) did just that when it won the Meetings and Business Tourism category of the 2010 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards.
Over 400 guests from different sectors of the Territory’s tourism industry attended the 24th Brolga Awards ceremony and gala dinner held Saturday, November 20 in Darwin at the DCC.
“The prestige of being a Brolga Award winner is highly regarded, we are extremely pleased with the recognition,” said Malu Barrios, General Manager of the Darwin Convention Centre.
The coveted Business Tourism award was judged on strategic business goals, quality of customer service, sustainability and flow-on tourism benefits.
“The award win is a wonderful achievement for us because it highlights the vision, dedication, and innovation of our staff,” Ms Barrios added.
“We look forward to an equally rewarding 2011 and our collaborative work with the tourism industry in delivering economic and social benefits to the community.”
Named after the tropical northern Australia crane known for its elaborate dance displays, the esteemed Brolga Tourism Awards are held annually to celebrate and acknowledge tourism businesses that strive for excellence in every area of their operation.
Winners of the Brolga Awards are automatically entered into the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards as finalists in their respective business category.
