When it comes to planning events, event professionals shoulder big responsibilities. But with each event bringing its own unique challenges and risks, do event professionals know and understand what’s expected of them today, by law and by industry?
Joanna Jordan, Creative and Company Director of Brisbane based event management company j2 ideas & events, believes not all event professionals may fully understand their obligations for delivering special events.
She advised, “Event planners have a huge job and have to wear many hats but often they are unclear of what is required under Australian legislation and best practice standards.”
“Unfortunately there is no clear cut guidebook or set standard for event planners in Australia to follow so it’s important for all levels of event planners to have an appreciation of the risks they may encounter and the implications these could have upon their events.”
Joanna will host a workshop in Brisbane on 18 March for people planning and delivering events, such as government event coordinators, freelancers and personal assistants whose roles involve event management.
At the workshops, Joanna will share firsthand her experiences and learnings as one of Australia’s leading event managers.
The workshop will also explore risk-averse operations and logistics across a range of events – from conferences and sporting events to public celebrations and festivals.
