Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa has affirmed its position as a world-class conservation-based luxury landmark being honoured with the Commitment to Excellence Award at the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World Awards.
Presented in Tokyo at the 2010 Annual Convention of The Leading Hotels of the World, the distinguished awards recognise those hotels whose programs in sustainability, community outreach and cultural support, enrich the experience of their guests, and benefit the world at large.
As Australia’s first conservation-based luxury resort, Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa was honoured with the overall Commitment to Excellence Award, as well as winning the Environment category, for its innovation and dedication to sustainable practices; and for the active protection, regeneration and conservation programs for the wildlife and flora in its surrounding locale.
“It is a tremendous honour just over one year after opening, to be recognised for our commitment to protect Wolgan Valley; a destination that is one of the most naturally beautiful and unique locations in the world,” said Joost Heymeijer, General Manager, Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa.
“Sustainability and protection of the environment is no longer an optional concept in this industry; and we commend our colleagues who are making contributions to become more socially and environmentally responsible.”
“We look forward to many more prosperous years to come; and to continue to offer travellers new and experiential luxury that is driven by an extraordinary location, outstanding conservation values and first-class service,” concluded Mr Heymeijer.
Not only has Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa received several accolades in its first year of operation, its valued partners have also been recognised in their industries for their outstanding and instrumental work in the development of the resort.
Following their Wolgan Valley project entry at the 2010 Master Builders Excellence in Construction Awards, the resort’s construction company Hansen Yuncken was recently named Australia’s National Commercial Master Builder of the Year; while the resort’s architecture firm Turner + Associates Architects was awarded Winner at the 2010 Australian Timber Design Awards in three categories including Commercial Sustainable Design, Resorts and Environmental Commitment.
