The 19th Biennale of Sydney is officially underway following the spectacular launch party at Australian Technology Park (ATP) celebrating this year’s theme, You Imagine What You Desire.
Almost 2000 of the art industry’s leaders gathered for the glittering start of Asia Pacific’s largest contemporary visual arts event.
Award winning The Events Authority created a glamorous event to mark the start of 12 weeks of thought provoking exhibitions, installations, performances and talks from local and international artists across many of Sydney’s most iconic landmarks and galleries including Cockatoo Island, Museum of Contemporary Art and the NSW Art Gallery.
General Manager Shelly Page said the atmospheric ATP setting had provided the perfect backdrop to the evening’s celebrations.
“The Events Authority worked extremely closely with the ATP team to deliver a fantastic launch event from electronic registration through to event and post-event co-ordination including taxis,” Ms Page.
“Our co-ordination of the many suppliers and partners during a tight bump-in schedule worked well as a result of tight communication and we were fortunate to be working with amazing partners. Award-winning caterers Gastronomy’s live cooking stations and grazing stations proved a hit while Valiant Hire’s new furniture range including the Pop Colour, Industrial and Frank Gehry Collections created three distinct relaxation zones.”
International DJ James Curd kept the launch party going right through to the midnight close.
The Events Authority’s General Manager Shelly Page led the Biennale team with the assistance of Hayley Sinden, Event Co-ordinator; Ruth Hirst, Production Manager and Colin Baldwin, Technical Manager.
