Held over three days, the conference is hosted at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in the heart of the city. This is the first time the event has been held outside Australia since the Hong Kong conference in 2000. The event will give the attendees the opportunity to expand their business knowledge on an international level.
MEA2014 will include an ‘Essentials in Meetings Management Training’ program, attended by more than 40 business events professionals out of Asia. This program will help strengthen ties between Australian and Asian professionals and demonstrate Australia’s leadership in education as well as the potential of Australia as a great destination for future events.
Thirty speakers from Australia, Asia and Europe are presenting at this year’s conference and will provide a comprehensive guide to many facets of the event industry. The design of the conference includes a mixture of plenary and “Deep Dive” sessions. This year MEA are providing attendees with 10 minute “thought starter” sessions which give a short taster of what the Deep Dives have to offer. These ‘try before you buy’ presentations aim to give delegates an idea of the expansive knowledge of the speakers and encourages them to try something new.
The conference wraps up with the annual MEA Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation, celebrating the excellent work of 57 finalists. As with previous years the gala dinner is an opportunity for attendees to network, discuss the conference and of course, acknowledge the innovation and creativity of some of the industry’s best and brightest. This year’s event will include a seven course meal comprising of Malaysian, Chinese and Indian cuisine, a demonstration of the major cultural influences in Malaysia.
Lastly, MEA2014 wouldn’t be complete without the social events. Held at some of Kuala Lumpur’s most exciting entertainment locations, including a welcome reception at Saloma Theatre Restaurant, casual dining at Feast Village and this year’s ClubMEA located at the spectacular SkyBar.
MEA has employed a number innovative communication techniques to assist delegates, including an interactive app, and the twitter hashtag #MEAKL2014 allows delegates to stay connected and to tweet their thoughts throughout the conference.
The MEA 2014 National Conference runs from May 15-17 and will provide an exciting and fascinating experience for all delegates.
