Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has been successful in securing the 6th Annual Associations Forum National Conference in 2011 – Australia’s premier event for professionals working in the not for profit sector.
This is the first time the conference has been held in Brisbane with previous conferences held in Sydney and Melbourne.
The two day gathering is expected to attract expert speakers and offers a strong program on topics pertinent to association management including membership, governance, education and events, plus plenty of networking opportunities.
As both the major sponsor and venue for the event, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, part of the International AEG Ogden Group, will play host to more than 300 association professionals from all over Australia. The event, which will take place from July 27 – 28, 2011, will provide the ideal opportunity for BCEC to showcase what will be the newly completed expansion of its convention facilities, BCEC on Grey Street.
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre General Manager, Bob O’Keeffe said that 2011 will be a memorable and exciting year for the Centre and the staging of such a relevant and significant industry conference added a new dimension to the momentum of the innovations and initiatives the Centre will introduce.
“This is an ideal opportunity to display the unique flexibility of the centre’s new expanded facilities, and the subsequent increased appeal and capability of Brisbane as a business events destination to a highly relevant and experienced audience of influential industry professionals”.
Associations Forum General Manager, John Peacock, is pleased that the Associations Forum National Conference will be held in Queensland for the first time.
“As an organisation with members from many states and territories, Associations Forum is very pleased to be holding our major event in Brisbane for the first time. Our interest in holding this major conference for Australia and New Zealand’s association and charity executives in the Sunshine State has coincided with BCEC’s expansion of its already popular facilities. BCEC on Grey Street will be an ideal venue for not-for-profit organisations and we are pleased to partner with the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre in providing this opportunity to showcase the new facilities to our members”, said Mr Peacock.
Brisbane Marketing’s Director Convention Bureau, Ms Annabel Sullivan, said that as the city’s economic development agency and one of the conference bidding partners, Brisbane Marketing saw a real long-term value in supporting this event.
“We look forward to showcasing Brisbane’s diverse range of industry strengths and business events qualities to the Associations Forum delegation,” said Ms Sullivan.
Confirmation of the conference follows the recent announcement that Brisbane will also host the 700 delegate strong 24th (Meetings & Events Australia) National Conference which is heading to Brisbane for the first time.
BCEC is proud to have been integral to securing both these leading industry events for Brisbane.
