Building on the momentum of hosting the 2014 G20 Leaders Summit, destined to catapult Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) into the international spotlight, the Centre has moved to strengthen and overhaul its current sales structure.
BCEC General Manager, Bob O’Keeffe said the G20 Leaders Summit, billed as the world’s most significant business event presents an extraordinary opportunity for the Centre. “It will benefit Brisbane and the business events industry for years into the future and we intend to maximise this once in a generation opportunity to secure a flow on of international and national conferences and events for the Centre and for Brisbane.”
Mr O’Keeffe said the opportunity had been taken to restructure and bolster the team to facilitate the increasing numbers of conventions and events. “In the last five years the Centre has doubled the number of conventions it hosts each year and we are anticipating the G20 factor will also impact.”
Mr O’Keeffe said the restructure is happening at a time when the Centre is moving into its 20th year of operation and maximises the strong talents and experience, both strategic and tactical, of the team. “We need to continue to innovate and change to ensure growth and profitability in our key markets in the future and to consolidate our position at the forefront of the industry.”
