The spotlight was on the Cairns Convention Centre last night as Vania Bau, the Centre’s Director of Client Services received the 2014 MEA Queensland Industry Award for Operations Person of the Year. The awards, held in Brisbane, recognise brilliance within the meetings industry.
Vania is responsible for the quality of client service delivery at the Cairns Convention Centre. During 2014 the Centre held some very high profile events that Vania’s team successfully managed, some of which included: ATE (Australian Tourism Exchange); Professional Bull Riding; the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting; World Buiatrics Congress and Dolly Parton Concert.
The Centre was also awarded ‘World’s Best Congress Centre’ in 2014 and Vania’s skills, experience and management as an operations professional contributed to the Centre receiving this prestigious recognition.
