LED screens are becoming a must-have for important corporate events, creating a dramatic presence far beyond projected images. They act as both screen and stage set, giving camera images and social photos an impact that the traditional screens and black drapes can’t achieve.
National audiovisual firm Scene Change now offers broadcast-grade LED in all its locations: Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Hunter Valley, Melbourne and Sydney.
All offices now own sizeable stocks of 2.9mm LED, high-resolution displays that suit detailed graphics and audiences close to the screen.
“We’re the only company that owns LED in all those locations,” said Scene Change co-founder Ian Whitworth. “Most of our clients are event producers and planners, and they like the quality control that comes with that. They recognise the quality of the behind-the-scenes elements like image processing. It’s boring tech stuff but audiences can see the difference.”
Risk management and safety is also a priority. LED screens can be large, heavy structures, and audience and presenter safety is a big issue. Scene Change has put considerable research and investment into making LED something that risk-conscious clients can safely sign off.
It means Scene Change is able to create interesting shapes and structures, rather than sticking to the usual screen format.
“It’s not just for the audience in the room,” said Scene Change Melbourne Director Andrew Delaney. “All the photos and video that guests post on their socials looks amazing with LED as a backdrop. It extends the impact to a much wider audience, so clients get a better ROI on their budget.”
To demonstrate the impact of LED, Scene Change has made a series of high-budget ads shot on cinematic camera, with epic visual effects. Under the theme Low Risk for High Profile Events, the three videos underline the importance of an experienced behind-the-scenes team.
“Our technical team has gone to another level since events returned post-COVID,” said Whitworth. “You don’t need us for every event. But for the important ones, we can help clients sleep better the night before.”
