The annual MEA NSW Christmas bash held on Thursday 22 November saw members and their guests soak up harbour views…and their fair share of champagne…at Deckhouse in Woolwich.
Whilst wheels were the transport of choice for some guests to arrive at the glamorous harbourside location, others started their night on board Rosman Ferries with a bit of magic thanks to Jim Gray.
Upon arrival at Deckhouse, champagne, wine and beer flowed with attentive staff keen to top up empty glasses and keep guests chatting merrily. Tucked away in the corner, Twisted Liquid Group performed their own kind of magic with delightful cocktails full of cheery Christmas combinations – vodka and lychee, rum and cranberry, gin and citrus all adding to the merriment and entertaining banter of Leeroy Petersen and his cocktail wizards.
Deckhouse is known for its food and the catering did not disappoint. With helpful wait staff providing a constant stream of canapés, rice paper rolls, calamari and individual buckets of Asian style noodles. Dessert was a highlight with mini ice cream cones proving a huge hit (we saw more than one guest go back for more, this writer included!) alongside shot glasses of tempting mousse and gorgeous cheese platters for late night nibblers.
Then it was time for some dance floor action with the Everyday People Band playing a selection of hits to please all generations, from One Direction to Cold Play to Violent Femmes and everything in between. Shoes off, handbags in the middle, it was time to relax and get grooving before the journey began to cars, taxis and ferries ready to ship guests back to reality and jobs the next day. The party season had indeed begun.
