Beazley has entered into a national supporter partnership with the business events industry’s national association Meetings & Events Australia (MEA). The partnership will broaden the insurance options for event organisers in Australia.
MEA’s members – who organise and manage the majority of Australia’s business events – will benefit from Beazley’s service and expertise as a market leader in event cancellation insurance.
Beazley is the lead insurer for four of the top six global conference and exhibition organisers, and the company’s specialist contingency team has over 20 years’ experience providing insurance cover for the conference, exhibition, tradeshow, sports, entertainment and leisure industries. Beazley has had a local team in Australia underwriting event cancellation risks since 2010.
Beazley’s Al Dart, contingency underwriter, said the new partnership will reinforce Beazley’s local presence and reputation in the Australian market. “Beazley is known for being an innovator in the insurance market – our cover is easy to understand, simple to use, and is tailored to meet the changing needs of our clients, particularly event organisers.”
Ms Linda Gaunt, Chief Executive Officer of MEA, said she was excited about the partnership, and believed that the members would benefit.
“The new partnership with Beazley is a significant win for the Australian events industry. We believe Beazley, as an innovator in the insurance sector, will make an excellent partner, particularly for events and promotions organisers,” Ms Gaunt said.
“We believe our members should have a wide access to quality products and training. Beazley’s experience in the events industry and support for our training and accreditation programs will be very welcome.”
The majority of insurance currently written by Beazley’s contingency team is cancellation and abandonment cover, with other event-based insurances protecting against the risks and costs associated with poor attendance or ticket sales as well as weather insurance to protect outdoor and seasonal events.
