At the annual MEA NSW Awards Dinner held on Thursday 27th March at Cockle Bay Wharf in Sydney, the NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA) Conference was awarded the highly prized ‘Meeting of the Year’ Award. The award submission was compiled by RFSA’s professional conference organiser, Arinex Pty Ltd.
The biennial three-day Conference 2013 was held at the Parklands Resort and Conference Centre in Mudgee, NSW from 21 – 23 June 2013. RFSA Conference 2013 attracted over 500 participants including Association Members (volunteers and staff of the NSW RFS), interstate volunteer rural fire fighters, sponsors, exhibitors and speakers. During the conference participants attended three social events along with a quality program and exhibition.
The Conference attained high profile speakers including well known journalist George Negus, a leading expert on volunteer management and recruitment, Dr Judy Esmond, and Sam Bailey, an inspirational speaker. NSW RFS Commissioner, Shane Fitzsimmons AFSM and the Hon. Michael Gallacher, Minister for Police and Emergency Services were also in attendance to demonstrate high level support from the Rural Fire Service (RFS) and the NSW Government.
The RFSA Exhibition provided an impressive dimension to the Conference and included an indoor exhibition at the venue, a purpose built marquee to extend the venue, and an outdoor exhibition which included fire appliances, live fire demonstrations, an RFS basecamp and helicopter. “A successful 2013 conference was vital to the Association as we had made the decision to change it from a yearly event to once every two years,” said Bernard Cox, Chief Executive Officer, RFSA. “Our focus was on staging a professional event that provided major educational benefits for our delegates and one that also created a lasting impact.
“The attention to detail from Arinex and their priority on the client and delegate experience as their end priority at every stage resulted in excellent delegate feedback and an event that created a carry-over sense of anticipation for our 2015 conference.”
RFSA’s core Professional Conference Organiser (PCO) Arinex has historically managed the Conferences annually since 2009. 2013 marked the first biennial Conference in which the RFSA realigned its focus to double the event size including dramatically increasing the number of sponsored delegates.
As the PCO, Arinex managed all aspects of the Conference including budget, program, logistics, sponsorship, the exhibition, accommodation and registration services. Arinex’ Managing Director Roslyn McLeod OAM AMM AFMEA, was delighted with the award and commented: “The secret of success for events is the strong relationship we have with our clients. This Award is attributed to the passionate focus by both parties to make every aspect a winner for the Conference, Exhibition and the RFSA. It is a joy to work together and deliver delight through inspiring experiences.”
