A long time feature of AIME has been The Saxton Ultimate Event Experience which has showcased many of Australia’s top presenters and entertainers to the industry.
This year to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Saxton business, owners Nanette Moulton and Winston Broadbent went for a different approach.
“It was designed in a unique manner (never seen anywhere in the world) and it took things to a whole new level. This was a show not a showcase.” Winston Broadbent told ASE.
“It was designed to mark our 50th Anniversary. 50 years of the spoken word. That’s why we called it Australia Speaks, celebrating 50 years with Saxton as it was a celebration of our 50 years in business. I think we are the oldest company in the event industry. We gathered together 22 of the top presenters in the country. We had many more in the audience including Catriona Rowntree, Barry Jones and Peter Ellyard. Cathy Freeman was a surprise guest on stage to celebrate the millennium decade.”
Hosted by Mike Munro, presenters included many of the best known personalities from the fields of business (Mark Bouris, Gary Pert, Steve Vamos), sport (Layne Beachley), media (Ita Buttrose), economics (Satyajit Das, Chris Caton), innovation (Rachel Botsman, Megan Quinn, Craig Davis, Remo Giuffre), exploration (Graeme Joy, Tim Cope), health (Michael Carr-Gregg), peace activism (Gill Hicks) and illusion (Vinh Giang), as well as musical performances from soul singer Darren Percival, beatbox phenomenon Tom Thum and singer-songwriter and current INXS front man Ciaran Gribbin.
The audience of over 1300 in the Plenary at MCEC certainly enjoyed the experience.
Nanette Moulton was the driving force behind it including scripting, selection and briefing of talent, flow etc.
“Overall creative development of set design and content and motion graphics and management of production, AV, etc was down to Mike Hall of Rigoni Hall for all of them– he’s a genius and I’m not the first person to say that. The great thing about Mike is you can trust him unconditionally to deliver a fantastic product” said Broadbent.
“Meri Took, Director Staging Rentals, and an icon in the industry himself joined for this one as producer and helped to develop the concept and execution. He did an excellent job in pulling a very complex program together on the day”.
