Sunshine Coast operators enjoyed a very productive trip ‘across the ditch’ for this year’s Pacific Area Incentives and Conferences Expo (PAICE), held at SkyCity Convention Centre Auckland.
Business Events Sunshine Coast (BESC) was joined by three business events members – Novotel Twin Waters Resort, Oaks Oasis, and Beyond Experiences for the event, taking advantage of the significant increase in direct flights between Auckland and the Sunshine Coast, including the launch of flights over the summer season for the first time.
BESC Manager Tiffany Bower said that the New Zealand market was looking good for business events on the Sunshine Coast, with their comparatively strong dollar, a buoyant economy and increased flights to Sunshine Coast and Brisbane airports all positive signs for 2016 and beyond.
“On the whole the New Zealand market is looking for unique incentive experiences so they were interested in the recently launched Great Beach Drive product, beachfront and unique dining options, food, wine and wellness activities,” said Ms Bower. “They were also keen to learn about product beyond the traditional coastal destinations they know already.”
First time industry trade show attendee, Emily Mills, from Beyond Experiences was particularly impressed with the reactions she received from the 200+ delegates and officials.
“Having only launched Beyond Experiences this year, I was looking for marketing opportunities that allowed me to engage in the inbound tourism industry and provide direct access to buyers that were interested in corporate travel to Australia. Being so new in the market, PAICE provided the perfect first stage to enter the international market. Overall the response from the New Zealand market was positive once they were informed about Sunshine Coast’s location and access, as well as all the hidden gems the region has to offer.”
