Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park has been recognised for its outstanding work in events with the announcement it is a National Finalist in the 2018 Australian Event Awards.
“Sydney Showground is thrilled to again be a finalist at the 2018 Australian Event Awards for the category ‘Best Achievement in Venue Management’,” said Sydney Showground Head of Sales Andrew Roberts.
“The team at Sydney Showground prides itself on delivering ‘Big Experiences’ for our clients across a diverse portfolio of events, with many taking place concurrently.
“Over the qualifying period the staff have handled over 150 major events, from AFL, A League Football and Big Bash cricket matches in Spotless Stadium, to major exhibitions, music and food festivals, incentive dinners for over 6,500 guests and of course the famous Sydney Royal Easter Show,” Andrew Roberts said.
Following a rigorous first round of judging by event industry leaders and experts around Australia, Sydney Showground’s place amongst the National Finalists has the weight of the industry behind it.
Entries are judged on all aspects of the achievement including innovation, best practice and sustainability as well as the achievement’s contribution to events and the difficulties encountered in executing it.
“I’m extremely pleased to say innovation is alive and well in Australian events and achievements in the events industry,” said Co-chair of the Event Awards Judging Panel Brenda LaPorte.
“Entries into this year’s Event Awards show Australian event professionals are not content to simply maintain the status quo – they continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in events to produce outstanding experiences and lead the world in our industry,” Brenda LaPorte said.
Winners of the Australian Event Awards will be announced at a lavish Awards Ceremony on 21 November 2018 at Novotel Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
