Culturist, orator, curator and arts and culture media favourite Fenella Kernebone will workshop communication and concept origination with the events industry on the Sunshine Coast in November.
The Masterclass will explore the importance of communication in the events industry, from active listening to conversation and presentation skills for creating and selling targeted, incredible concepts that pop.
Aside from her current role as Head of Curation at TEDxSydney, a flagship TEDx event worldwide, Kernebone has worked across the media landscape in Australia, hosting radio and television programmes for SBS, Triple J and Radio National.
“If I can offer one hack, it is to continue cultivating your communication skills. Talk to everyone and include as many people as you can in the conversation. Whether you’re organising an event or speaking in front of an audience, the role that great communication plays cannot be underestimated,” said Kernebone.
Managing Director of the Australian Event Awards and Symposium, Ian Steigrad, said he was excited to see what Kernebone’s considerable communication experience will bring to the event industry.
“Fenella has spent years honing her skills and her role with TEDxSydney shows her real world understanding of how communication can drive success for events.
“I believe there’s a lot our industry can learn from her in terms of really leveraging communication techniques to deliver tangible results,” he said.
Kernebone joins two other Masterclass visionaries at the Symposium, journalist and former Wallaby Peter FitzSimons and celebrity chef Matt Golinski, as well as a host of experts from within the events industry who will deliver Workshops on topics including creative disruption, marketing, stakeholder engagement and project management.
The Symposium takes place at the Novotel Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast on 19-21 November and will culminate with the ultimate celebration of Australian events – the Australian Event Awards.
