Be Yourself. Be Happy.

Of the grand order of folio leviathans, the Sperm Whale and the Right Whale are by far the most noteworthy. They are the only whales regularly hunted by man. To the Nantucketer, they present the two extremes of all the known varieties of the whale. As the external difference between them is mainly observable in their heads; and as a head of each is this moment hanging from the Pequod's side.

Stay Positive. Always.

The Star Event Centre lives on – as the Sydney Event Centre

As previously reported the cash strapped Sydney Star has sold The Star Event Centre to Foundation Theatres, owners of the Sydney Lyric and Foundry Theatre, also at The Star.

Foundation Theatres, who took over the venue at the beginning of this month had previously indicated that they planned to convert the space into another lyric theatre. However, General Manager of Foundation Theatres, Graeme Kearns told ASE that the venue will continue in its present form for some time, at least for another 12 months, and that plans for redevelopment are still some way off.

The Logie Awards were the last event to be held in the venue before it was handed over to Foundation.

The Sydney Event Centre already has forward bookings into next year.

Foundation Theatres announced the news in a media release this week

After purchasing three venues at The Star Sydney this year, Foundation Theatres officially takes over operations of the Event Centre at The Star this September. Known as Sydney Event Centre, Foundation Theatres will continue the venue’s legacy of hosting a variety of events including conferences, concerts, shows, exhibitions, gala dinners, functions and award ceremonies.

Doltone House has been appointed as the exclusive catering and events partner, delivering premium, large-scale functions at the Sydney Event Centre. Their expert team will oversee the event management of non-ticketed events, from conferences and exhibitions, to gala dinners, and corporate celebrations.

For ticketed events, including concerts, Foundation Theatres will continue their partnership with Ticketmaster to bring these shows to life. Foundation Theatres venues are recognised for presenting premium content, delivering exceptional customer experiences and contributing to a thriving performing arts industry, all of which will continue at Sydney Event Centre.

Graeme Kearns, CEO of Foundation Theatres, commented: “We’re delighted to partner with Doltone House on events and catering and continue our strong relationship with the Ticketmaster team for the Sydney Event Centre. Both companies are renowned for bringing to life unforgettable events, and we’re looking forward to working together to bring this premium event and hospitality offering to Sydney.”

“We are proud to partner with the Sydney Event Centre, a venue that mirrors our own commitment to scale, quality, and innovation in event delivery,” said Anna Cesarano, CEO of Doltone House. “This collaboration allows us to bring our award-winning hospitality to one of Sydney’s most dynamic large-format spaces, delivering unforgettable experiences for conferences, exhibitions, and gala celebrations.”

Together, Foundation Theatres, Ticketmaster and Doltone House will ensure that the Sydney Event Centre is at the forefront of live events in Sydney.
