The Grey Nomad Awards has launched two new gongs for 2022 – one that recognises those caravan and camping spots where Fido also has fun and another for stays that allow travellers to choose their own RV site.
The two new categories, officially called the Best Grey Nomad Dog Friendly Stay and the BestGrey Nomad Freedom Stay, form part of the full suite of 12 categories in the 2022 Grey Nomad Awards.
The Awards program shines a light on regional and rural Australia by providing verified information to guide mature-age travellers’ decisions on where to travel and what to experience along the way.
Liz Rivers, Awards Director, said “The Best Grey Nomad Dog Friendly Stay came about after research by Elanco showed that half of all dog owners say their dog impacts where they go on holiday and 47% of dog owners take their dog on holiday more than once a year”.
She said that their own research in 2019 identified that 35% of grey nomads took their dogs on long overland journeys.
“This finding also influenced the development of the Best Grey Nomad Freedom Stay, which is open to any type of place where RV travellers are given the freedom to choose their own campsite” she said.
Other Grey Nomad Awards categories are:
Best Grey Nomad Small Caravan Park (less than 75 RV sites)
Best Grey Nomad Large Caravan Park (more than 75 RV sites)
Best Grey Nomad Pub Stay
Best Grey Nomad Farm or Station Stay
Best Grey Nomad Community Stay
Best Grey Nomad Festival or Event
Best Grey Nomad Attraction
Best Grey Nomad Historic Attraction
Best Grey Nomad Tour
Best Grey Nomad Trail.
Nominations in the Grey Nomad Awards close and submissions due on Monday 14 November.
