Be Yourself. Be Happy.

Of the grand order of folio leviathans, the Sperm Whale and the Right Whale are by far the most noteworthy. They are the only whales regularly hunted by man. To the Nantucketer, they present the two extremes of all the known varieties of the whale. As the external difference between them is mainly observable in their heads; and as a head of each is this moment hanging from the Pequod's side.

Stay Positive. Always.

Why Event Professionals Should Prioritise Themselves in 2023

In addition to being AIMEbassador for AIME 2023, Paula Rowntree is Head of Events, Australian Psychological Society and Founder, The Business Events Network.

Paula Rowntree

She is a passionate advocate for the power of business events to create long-term economic and sustainable impact.

As a leader within the business event and association/not-for-profit sectors, with more than 30 years’ experience, Paula works with organisations to successfully design, develop and implement business event strategies that enhance the member, organisation and customer experience, adapt to changing environments and best practice, diversify revenue streams and increase the value of the organisation.

Ahead of AIME 2023, Paula shares some invaluable insights into how industry professionals can prioritise personal growth in 2023 and beyond.

  • The return to in-person, virtual, hybrid, satellite and every other form of event requires more from event professionals. We must now adapt at a rate unseen for quite some time. We need to get back’ in the zone’: trying, testing, evaluating and adapting.
  • There’s a danger that within the context of rapid change, we will ignore our own educational and developmental needs. Coming together at events for our industry – for ‘us’ – has never been more important.
  • Your education, your connections and networks, your chance to experience the very things you are trying to deliver for your clients, your staff, your management teams will bring a game-changing level of insight into the business events you create, manage and execute.
  • I encourage you all to embrace ‘the you,’ celebrate yourself and put your needs ahead of your delegates and attendees for just a moment. The chance for us to come together in February at AIME 2023 to learn, to teach, to energise and to celebrate each other is the perfect way to kick off 2023.

The Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) is the leading trade event for the meetings and event industry in the Asia Pacific region. AIME is where industry decision makers connect, create and do business. Applications for AIME’s highly regarded Hosted Buyer Program close 13 December 2022. Find out more: AIME website.
