Australia’s world-class luxury resort, Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa, in conjunction with the acclaimed Sydney Symphony, will present an exclusive chamber music weekend performance this March 2013.
The inaugural music event, to be held 1 to 3 March 2013, will treat guests of the conservation-based resort to four intimate and unique concerts from Friday evening to Sunday lunchtime, set in beautiful and dramatic locations across the 4,000 acre conservation property.
A major highlight of the weekend event will be an open air concert under the stars with dinner in the forecourt of the 1832 Heritage Homestead. The open air concert will feature brass and percussion musicians performing music from the French Baroque by Lully to excerpts from Bizet’s Opera Carmen and will even include a tribute to the tango, concluding with an arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s famous 1812 Overture with audience participation.
Led by Paul Goodchild, Sydney Symphony Associate Principal Trumpet, the concerts will be performed by some of Australia’s most acclaimed classical musicians.
“It’s an incredible opportunity to perform in this spectacular and quintessential Australian bush setting. Surrounded by dramatic valley escarpments, the luxury resort will provide a stunning platform for these truly intimate concerts,” said Mr Goodchild.
Performances throughout the weekend will feature string quartets by Brahms and Haydn as well as Mozart’s famous Clarinet and Horn Quintets. Brass music enthusiasts will also be catered for with 17th Century Canzonas from the Splendour of Venice by Giovanni Gabrieli and Fanfare by Benjamin Britten.
To conclude the chamber music weekend, a mid-morning coffee concert on Sunday featuring selections of popular classics, jazz and opera will be held at the resort’s Main Homestead verandah overlooking the valley.
“Emirates has been a Principal Partner of the Sydney Symphony for 10 years. A performance at Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa is a natural extension of the partnership. Our resort guests will be treated to exclusive and intimate performances by the finest classical musicians in Australia. It will be a remarkable weekend of music, culture and luxury which we hope will become a signature event,” said Joost Heymeijer, General Manager, Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa.
